Yep, it's been a week since I posted here. If you are looking for more frequent action during the golf season I would suggest you follow us on Twitter or visit the Twitter page www.twitter.com/flagstick. We do many daily updates there and our live coverage of the OVGA Match Play Championship is a great example of how we will be using that tool to get out the golf news of the region.
We are deep in the throws of the July issue right now and I must say it is shaping up to be a good one. Not that our June issue wasn't - we are still getting some great feedback on our Road Trip travel story, but if you want to be a better putter this year than I suggest you check out Flagstick in July.
On another note, many of the golf courses in the region suffered some turf damage over the past winter but I am happy to see many of them recovering well. A great example is the Carleton Golf & Yacht Club that hosted the CPGA TaylorMade adidas Spring Open this past Monday. The greens, which were rough when the year started are now mint and the tournament winner, James Spernick, made many mentions of this in his post-victory interviews.
Get ready as well for a big July in the region. Tournament play is at it's peak and you can expect to see a lot of coverage of events ranging from the Tunis to the OVGA Intersectionals (expect a big announcement from us regarding those shortly). The RCGA Future Links Championship will be played at Rideau View next month and several other big championships will also be played within the region.
Also of note in July will be the debut of eQuinelle, an outstanding new golf course that we will have a lot more coverage about in the days ahead. I will be heading back there early next week to capture some images that I will be happy to share.
Also keep an eye on the U.S. Open next week at Bethpage where our own Flagstick Rules Columnist, Dean Ryan, will be patrolling the fairways in an official capacity.
It's shaping up to be a big summer of golf. Stick with us and we'll try and keep you informed on all the happenings.
P.S. Check out the front page of Canadian Golf Distributor Golf Trends - one of our Blog posts was honored with a nice placement there.
