Yep, it's started. This time of year is pure madness for me. Between chasing stories, dealing with columnists, conducting photo-shoots and trying to keep everything else functioning in an organized manner - there is not a free moment left in a day. That's usually why you see less action here on the Blog than during the winter season.
Fear not though - I have a new ally this year, NeurOptimal Golf.
I mentioned it some weeks ago here in my Blog and now that I am up and running with the personal system (after some fast and efficient help from their customer service) I thought I would relay some of my experiences.
For those not familiar with NeuroFeedback - think of it as training for your brain. The NeurOptimal system allows you to help shape the way your brain is working. It does this through receiving feedback from your brain through five electrodes. By measuring your analog brainwaves (then converting them into digital format for the software to analyze) you then listen to a "session" of sounds that include a "crackling" type noise that your brain reacts to, resulting in a more refined brain wave profile. The experts can likely explain it better (see resources like www.neuroptimalgolf.com and even YouTube for more info) but that is about as well as I can lay it out for you.
Here is what I do know though..four sessions in an I am just as mystified and impressed as I was the first time I tried the system at the PGA Merchandise Show back in January.
The puzzlement comes from the fact that although "training my brain" was something I hadn't even considered, 36 minutes after my first session and I was feeling euphoric, more responsive, sharply more aware of my environment and left with a sense that my thoughts were a little more orderly.
And this time of year, with such a hectic schedule - these sensations pay big dividends. Feeling less anxious, even with a big workload; I look forward to my overstuffed days rather than dreading them.
Is it all because of NeuroFeedback? I can't 100% say that for sure but if there is one thing that I can confirm is that is hasn't affected me negatively in any way.
In the next few weeks I hope to play some more golf events and let you know how NeurOptimal Golf is making a difference there. The company has begun working with pro golfers looking for an edge so maybe it can sharpen up my ability to deal with the ups and downs of the sport.
I'll check back in on this topic shortly and even explain a little but more about the mechanics of a "session" and show you how easy NeurOptimal Golf is to use.
Talk soon...
